Propane gets too hot, it will bring your quartz into the range where it can be damaged by devitrification, and is highly discouraged.
When using a butane torch to heat your Blender or Slurper (using a Standard Blazer, for reference) a ~30 second heat-up on the dish, followed by another ~30 on the primary work zone, the walls, aiming up away from the dish will allow for fully heated work zones, and a slightly cooler dish. Aim the DabRite about 1-2 cm above the junction of where the dish meets the stem, and go in anywhere you feel comfortable (580-560 is a good starting point, adjust for preference based on material and effect.
We let it cool while we clean the tool. And catch our breath. A little spray bottle with iso, or a wash bottle of 99% iso, and a cotton swab or the like, with just a tiny bit of solvent applied to the banger while warm.
Once in a while, a deep cleaning is needed. Soaking your nail in Dark Crystal Quartz Cleaner, per the directions on the bottle, and a bit of a scrub and rinse takes care of 99% of anything.
You know, that part you can't get to with a swab and can't seem to flush clean. That spot.
Once you've tried the rest, and have satisfied yourself that there is nothing more you could do to safely clean it, torch it with the tip of your flame, keeping the flame moving. Never sit it in one spot, but always keep the flame dancing, moving on the quartz. Once the residue begins to disappear, back it off, and let it slowly take the excess carbon. Never Let it get red-hot. The key is in keeping it moving. Obviously the less you have to torch off in the first place, the better, as it does carry the potential for damage if done incorrectly.
Safety first. Torch last.
